Location: Cashiers, NC - Baldrock Community

Completion: 2004

A roomy, yet cozy, mountain home in an idyllic setting with captivating views of Baldrock Mountain and Lake. To accommodate the clients’ spacious program needs and provide access to as much of the view as possible, traditional forms and materials evoking the old mills that once dotted this region were incorporated with an unconventional, modern interior implementation. The main structure is an open, two-story volume capped with a heavy timber trussed roof system. A catwalk spine runs the length of the home off which architectural elements playfully delineate individual spaces as a matter of function within an overall unified spatial experience.
